This is my initial 911 E-mail to all of you for your help in finding a new home for my beloved cats-(AKA My Children)-of 12 years!!!!..... Nala and Tommy have been my whole world until the birth of my Baby Boy Jason. Well, unfortunately the time has come that Jason's asthma and allergies have become so severe that he is now under the specialized care of a pulmonologist. And the pediatrician and pulmonologist have declared the same edict: The Cats Must Find A New Home! Needless to say, we are heart-broken and grieving. So now I need to find a loving home for Nala and Tommy. Nala and Tommy are both fully-trained, indoor-only cats. They have been neutered and de-clawed. Nala is a thirteen year-old full breed Devon Rex. She would be a great companion for an older person, as she really is a LAP CAT! Tommy is a beautiful Orange Tabby. He is very skittish with new people, but is also deeply affectionate once he knows someone. Tommy warms up to people very quickly. -Donna

Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without a loved family member who has recently died; it may be a time that has always been difficult. The constant refrain on radio and television, in shopping malls and churches, about the happiness of the season, about getting together with family and friends, reminds many people of what they have lost or have never had. The anguish of broken relationships, the insecurity of unemployment, the weariness of ill health, the pain of isolation--all these can make people feel very alone in the midst of the celebrating and spending. For these reasons, Woodmont United Church of Christ is offering a special "Longest Night" service on Sunday, December 22 at 7:00 pm. The candle light service will focus on prayers, scripture, and music that acknowledge that God's presence is for those who mourn, for those who struggle--and that God's Word comes to shine light into our darkness. Everyone, regardless of church background (or lack of it) is welcome. The short service will be followed by a brief time for light refreshments and fellowship.

The UCC is trying to organize faith-based responses to the debate before Congress regarding the proposal to go to war with Iraq. The word we are getting is that this could move very quickly. See www.ucc.org for more information or contact me if you would like to be included on a list of folks who want to receive more information. Let us all pray for wisdom and for peace with justice!

Hooray for Malcolm Palm whose hard work you see on your screen! We have long talked about having a web page, but no one has had the time/expertise to put it together. Malcom has taken our ideas and brought them to life. Check back here when you forget what time a meeting is or have an idea or wonder what is going on! We will try to keep it up to date.
