This is my initial 911 E-mail to all of you for your help in finding a new home for my beloved cats-(AKA My Children)-of 12 years!!!!..... Nala and Tommy have been my whole world until the birth of my Baby Boy Jason. Well, unfortunately the time has come that Jason's asthma and allergies have become so severe that he is now under the specialized care of a pulmonologist. And the pediatrician and pulmonologist have declared the same edict: The Cats Must Find A New Home! Needless to say, we are heart-broken and grieving. So now I need to find a loving home for Nala and Tommy. Nala and Tommy are both fully-trained, indoor-only cats. They have been neutered and de-clawed. Nala is a thirteen year-old full breed Devon Rex. She would be a great companion for an older person, as she really is a LAP CAT! Tommy is a beautiful Orange Tabby. He is very skittish with new people, but is also deeply affectionate once he knows someone. Tommy warms up to people very quickly. -Donna

will share with us the story of the good news of the birth of our Savior

Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas
without a loved family member who has recently died; it may be a time
that has always been difficult. The constant refrain on radio and television,
in shopping malls and churches, about the happiness of the season, about
getting together with family and friends, reminds many people of what
they have lost or have never had. The anguish of broken relationships,
the insecurity of unemployment, the weariness of ill health, the pain
of isolation--all these can make people feel very alone in the midst of
the celebrating and spending. For these reasons, Woodmont United Church
of Christ is offering a special "Longest Night" service on Sunday, December
22 at 7:00 pm. The candle light service will focus on prayers, scripture,
and music that acknowledge that God's presence is for those who mourn,
for those who struggle--and that God's Word comes to shine light into
our darkness. Everyone, regardless of church background (or lack of it)
is welcome. The short service will be followed by a brief time for light
refreshments and fellowship.
The Woodmont United Church of Christ, 1000 New Haven Avenue, Milford,
will be displaying a public witness of faith this Advent Season beginning
on December 1st . We have a lighted a tree in front of the church and
are inviting people to hang “ornaments” of joys, thanks and prayer concerns.
Alternate Gift Fair - Sunday, December 8, after worship. Don't do all
your holiday shopping yet! At our Alternate Gift Fair, you can purchase
donation cards from Heifer Project for your friends and family. Your money
helps provide livestock and training for people all over the world, helping
to make them self-sufficient; your donation card tells your friends and
family that you have made a wonderful donation in their name. Or buy unique,
handcrafted items from SERVV. SERVV sells items made by craftspeople from
all over the world, ensuring that the crafters receive fair-market value
for their handiwork, not just "pennies on the dollar". The Fair will feature
a selection of many beautiful, one-of-a-kind items - all very affordable!
So come to the Fair, and buy gifts that keeps on giving!
Advent Workshop - Sunday, Dec. 1, 4-6:30 p.m. Bring your family and friends
to our annual Advent Workshop. We'll sing some carols, set up the outdoor
creche, make various Christmas crafts, and enjoy homemade soups and breads.
This is a wonderful, low-stress alternative to mall madness. Great fun
for families; friends and visitors welcome!
"Unplug the Christmas Machine" Workshop Give yourself (and your family)
an early Christmas present this year. Learn some techniques for simplifying
and re-prioritizing the holidays. Join us on Sunday, November 17, for
a Worship & Education for All Ages event. After morning service, the children
will attend Sunday School, while the adults and youths attend a workshop
entitled, "Unplug the Christmas Machine." We will explore our personal
Christmas ideals as well as our Christmas realities, then discuss ways
to pick and choose, in order to create a more meaningful, less stressful
holiday season.
This Tuesday, October 15, 2002 we are going to go out for dinner with
Rev. Kim, Pastor of our Korean partner church! We will be gathering at
Miraku on the Post Road in Orange at 6:00 p.m. Call the office if you
haven't already signed up so we know how many to make the reservation
for!!!
This Sunday, October 6, is WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY with Worship and Education
for All Ages. While the kids are in Sunday School, we will have an adult
forum on CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVES ON WAR. All are welcome to come. There
will be a mini-lecture and then open dialogue.
The UCC is trying to organize faith-based responses to the debate before
Congress regarding the proposal to go to war with Iraq. The word we are
getting is that this could move very quickly. See www.ucc.org for more
information or contact me if you would like to be included on a list of
folks who want to receive more information. Let us all pray for wisdom
and for peace with justice!
Hooray for Malcolm Palm whose hard work you see on your screen! We have
long talked about having a web page, but no one has had the time/expertise
to put it together. Malcom has taken our ideas and brought them to life.
Check back here when you forget what time a meeting is or have an idea
or wonder what is going on! We will try to keep it up to date.
